City Food Share, established in 2019, is a charity fundraising organisation that raises funds for food and homelessness charities both nationally and locally. Founded in order to provide sustainable funding for food banks, feeding programmes and homeless shelters through a variety of dynamic fundraising initiatives, our flagship campaign, Tap & Share, has generated more than £20,000 in donations from the public as of June 2021.
"Having had the experience of working in the food industry, I had the idea to engage restaurants and hospitality businesses in contributing to food banks and those in food poverty. This evolved into the use of the contactless Tap & Share donation units which are now in use at over 100 host partner businesses nationwide. The main reasons for developing CFS as a fundraising organisation were to help make emergency food providers sustainable year-round with a steady stream of small contributions from the public. The contactless donation platform is a modern tech solution to the issue of food poverty in the UK. We hope to expand the Tap & Share campaign to include more and more partners, helping more and more people as time goes on.
Before Covid-19, CFS also hosted community fundraiser events with the aim of raising awareness and funds for our beneficiaries, which we hope to continue once it is safe to do so.''
